December Command Message

December 21, 2017|Posted in: Public Announcements

As 2017 draws to a close we would be remiss if we did not express our collective gratitude to you – the Colorado National Guard Soldier.  You are what is best about our state and nation and we consider it a privilege to serve on your team. Thank you for who you are and what you do.

We recently welcomed home Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces and Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion 157th Field Artillery from deployment to Afghanistan.  Your deployments were seminal; both units were decisive in defeating our nation’s enemies. You are all to be commended for your professionalism in fighting with honor while truly demonstrating what it means to live by the Warrior Ethos.  We hope that this holiday season is extra special as you have this time to be reunited with your loved ones.  Congratulations on an incredible deployment!

As we close out 2017 and look forward to the holidays, we challenge you all to reach out and check on your battle buddy.  Take a moment to call, meet for coffee, or perhaps go for a hike.  Look out for one another just as you would if you were down range.

The saying goes “if you don’t like the weather in Colorado wait 5 minutes, it’ll change.” This statement is no more accurate than in the months of November and December. Please consider the drastic weather changes in all of your planning. Whether you are skiing, taking a hike, or traveling for the holidays please prepare yourself for inclement and unexpected weather.  Please refer to the COARNG Winter Safety card that accompanies this message for valuable winter safety information.
