Basic Rider Course Required for All Soldiers Riding Motorcycles

Effective May 20, 2018, the Department of Defense Traffic Safety Training Program and AR 385-10 require all Soldiers who ride motorcycles to have completed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved Basic Rider Course (BRC). An Advanced Riders Course (ARC) may also be required within twelve months of completing the BRC, depending on the type of motorcycle driven. Sustainment training is also required within five years of completing an Advanced Riders Course (ARC). Click on the document below to read the memo in full.
