Successful Cheerleading Fundraising Ideas

There are a number of reasons why a cheerleading team needs to raise money. They may be taking a trip to a competition and need to raise funds, they may need new uniforms, poms, safety mats, or any essential item of equipment.

Whatever the reason, having a fundraiser is a great way to raise money for your cheerleading team. One of the great things about doing one of these is that you have a squad of cheerleaders to help with the fundraiser and you don’t have to pay them.

It is also a good team building experience, it gets the team together and is a good bonding experience.

Cheerleading Fundraising Ideas

There are all kinds of different ways to hold a cheerleading fundraiser. One way is to hold a raffle. At a sporting event you have people buy tickets for the raffle and put them in a box and after you’re done selling them, you pick a ticket and the winner gets a percentage of the money.

You can work out the percentage that you want to keep. That is a quick and easy way to raise some funds for your team.

Another way of doing this is to have a bake sale. You set up a time for having the bake sale, that could be at a school function, like a sporting event. You have each of the members bring something to the bake sale. Again, a quick and easy way to raise money for your team.

Another way that you can raise money is to have members of the team go door to door and sell items. You can sell any number of different things. You could sell candy bars, you could sell calendars, you could sell arts & crafts etc.

One little hint that I will give you is to have a competition. Whoever sells the most gets a special reward. This will get them to put more effort into it and sell more items.

Whatever method that you use, always make sure that you convey to potential buyers that your money is going towards a good cause. I talked about holding a raffle earlier.

People will buy a ticket because they want a chance to win a nice sum of money, but the main reason that they will buy is because they want to support a good cause. It is a win-win situation for them.

If they were to buy a lottery ticket and lose, they would get absolutely nothing. If they lose in the raffle they still can say that they contributed to a good cause.

I cannot overstate how big of a selling point that using the proceeds for a good cause is. People will buy things that they don’t even want, just to help contribute to a good cause.

So, wear your “team” shirt or uniforms when you’re out raising money – take your mascot, or other team trophies, to show them what you’re about. Be detailed and tell them what the proceeds are going towards and you should be able to sell like crazy.

Remember that you don’t need to raise all of the money that you need in one fundraiser. You can have a bunch of small fundraisers and they will add up over time, and each one helps you to get that bit closer to your goal.
